spring is here... and spring fever sucks!

yesterday:

-we started school with a non-emergency lockdown. it lasted for an hour. thank goodness i had my honors class and they were taking a quiz. after the lockdown, we got an email saying both central and centennial were put on lockdown to have a K-9 search. according to the kids, there were also lockdowns at urbana and st. thomas moore because apparently they got someone on campus this weekend and thought his stash was at one of the high schools in town.

-because of the lockdown, kids weren't allowed in school late so some kids went to go hang out down at the park. a girl got jumped. awesome.

-4th hour one of my kids came in late. she had been down in the dean's office where there was weed on the rug right inside the door. she was afraid to pick it up because she thought it was a trap... as did the rest of the kids down there. eventually someone told the secretary and she got on her walkie talkie and asked for someone to come get the weed off her rug. the assistant principal and one of the deans came to check it out. then a janitor vacuumed it right up. "what a waste." was the kids reaction.

-someone got arrested at some point as well.

-oh and a girl who transferred here in march came into my 3rd hour class bald. i was afraid she had cancer or something since she had been gone the past two days, but her story was that she had been jail over the weekend. apparently it's a respect thing. the kids don't seem to buy it.


today:

-one of my kids in 3rd hour who has been gone a crazy amount lately wasn't there. he got in a fight after school yesterday and is currently locked up. he became a dad last week. lovely. oh, he's been mentioned on here before... the one with the actual court date in april... not the april fools day joke one.

-there was a girl fight 2nd hour. i thought i heard a commotion, but didn't feel like checking it out. it was on the 2nd floor anyway.

-there was a second girl fight during B lunch. favorite recorded it on his phone. that's his favorite past time. he records every fight he sees. apparently he didn't do a very good job with this one though because he was running around too much... too bad that didn't keep everyone from wanting to see it.

-at least one of the girls involved in one of the fights spent some time in cuffs. i don't know if they took anyone to jail or not, though... i just know she was cuffed up sitting in the deans office.


in less "what is our world coming to?" news, favorite took a funny video this afternoon. he's dropped his sixth and seventh hour classes so he spends sixth hour in my room since i'm off that period. on good days he works... on other days he sits at my computer and listens to music and just takes up space. today he was actually working on a test. then a kid from seventh hour came in and apparently had decided to take out his earrings... he's got those really big holes in ears. well he and favorite get to talking and favorite goes, "stick a pencil in the hole" so he does. then favorite wants to get a video of it so he recorded this kid sticking the pencil in his ear and then his finger and then the pencil again. i couldn't watch. ay yi yi. i just don't know what's wrong with these kids!
