so for christmas i bought dana a GT Xpress 101 (you know, the sweet two-sectioned cooker you see on infomercials!) and we decided to make cake with it the other day. now, it was the first time we used it, so we knew it wouldn't be perfect, but we didn't think we'd end up with this:
dana kept checking on it and the color and outside looked fine, but it was majorly undercooked (not just the mmh, let's undercook it so it's gooey undercooked, but the what in the world happened? undercooked). i decide to take a look at the recipe and read that it takes 1/4 cup of water and am thinking the bowl looked a bit too full to only have that much water in it (especially because you don't use oil... just an egg, so not a whole lot of liquids going on her). i ask dana how much water she put in and realize she put in a cup. yep. that could cause some problems. so we decided to start over. the result was as follows:
now while the coloring may look a little weird, these were fully cooked and actually tasted like cake. amazing how less than a cup of water can have such a huge impact on life. okay, maybe not on life and maybe when we're dealing with so little batter one would expect it to affect it that much, but whatever, you get what i'm saing. anyway, here's a pic of the two next to each other so you can get a better idea of how truly different they turned out. (oh and the white stuff on top of the good cakes is frosting! mmh...)
